The Serenity of a Blog

I can only describe the internet today as a chaotic place. Maybe it always was, but algorithmic feeds and timelines are everywhere now, constantly shoveling information (often of questionable quality) in front of our eyes. If you want to connect with people online, you need to either choose which large corporation to trust with your sanity, or you need to choose which open source platform, or almost-open-source-platform (looking at you BlueSky), has the most people you're interested in interacting with. At best, you get well-written, thought provoking content on a platform that just doesn't have everyone you talk to on it. At worst, you get content in a stretched out vertical X thread sandwiched between an AI-generated video of a hamster and some influencer you've never heard of.

There's just something peaceful, at least to me, about reading a well-written, old-fashioned, blog. Perhaps it's the fact that the entire focus is on one person. It feels like a quiet oasis amidst a turbulent sea of information. Blogs just feel like how the internet was supposed to be - information with a more personal sense of connection. It could also just be my age showing at the ripe age of 30.

Suffice to say, I'll be saving more of my thoughts moving forward for my blog and not the algorithmic feeds. If you're also a blogger, I'd love to connect and rant together. Let's spread a little calm in the chaos.
